Fighting Someone Else's War
“I am really tired," Hassan said. "I keep shouting that I am not a bad guy, I am not a coward — I can fight, but it’s not my fight. It’s someone else’s fight in my land. "I am a brave man, but it's not my fight. I cannot just be a part of a killing machine to destroy my own home. "Syria is my home. I cannot just bomb my home or airstrike my home. It's not my duty in this life. I was born in this life to do something good. It's not my work to kill my people or my brothers." Yes Hassan, NO, it's not our work to kill -not only our people but any people. We are all brothers and sisters here. Not that we are obliged to love or even like our siblings, BUT we are at least obliged to leave them alone and let them live. Of course this changes when there is aggression. However, no government should have a right to force anybody to take up arms and fight in a war somebody wishes to have no part in. Obligatory conscription is WRONG. It is against human rights. It's seriously outrageous that people are expected to fight other people's wars. It's outrageous that people are accused of being cowards if they do not wish to be part of a stupid war. It's outrageous that some people get to dictate others so self-righteously and smugly that others should be staying to “correct” their countries, they should stay and fight to bring “democracy”, to do this and that. When all the meanwhile the thugs at the top, those “leaders” and warlords ruin everything for all of us; these smug people, instead of asking for justice, instead of asking for this corrupt and unacceptable political system to be dismantled, they put the burden on the poor people who have been exploited for profit. Yeah, the burden should be on those who do not have the basics to survive (!) Oh, these smug people have their essentials covered, they have even a lot of the luxurious, yet, they expect the ones who lack the basics to fight to make things right. Oh I understand (!) Or rather I don't. No, you've got it all wrong. Our job as part of the human race is to take care of the weak, to be a voice for those who do not have a voice. It's not to hit the ones that are already down-trodden. It's not. And it's not anybody's right to label people leeches of the system when they are also leeching the system themselves. Just because somebody has been born outside of some imaginary line, you don't hold them to different standards. If you believe the system allows people to take advantage of the “generosity” of the society, if you don't want to be forced to contribute to the system, then speak up for the abolition of the system; Don't condemn and rail against the individual who is doing nothing wrong according to the rules. So you are criticizing people because they don't want to kill? Because they don't want to be killed? Because they don't want to die of hunger? Because they don't want to live in dire conditions, not knowing where the food for their children will come from or if it will come at all? So you are criticizing people because their choice -leaving the place they call home to seek better opportunities for themselves- is not the same as your choice -their staying and trying to find a way and perishing if need be-?? Ah! Okay. I got that (!) Flash flash flash!... I got news for you: Some people DO NOT want to kill anyone! Flash flash flash... Most people do not enjoy the idea of being killed. Flash flash flash... Most people do not enjoy the idea of dying of hunger either. Flash flash flash... People are free to make their choices for themselves and their choices do not necessarily have to be the same as yours. And the big flash flash extra flash news is: Basic needs like food in one's stomach, shelter over one's body and security of life should be provided for every single person on this planet. Please take the time to read and study the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. If people do not have access to those rights in the “country” they are born, they are all free to seek a life where they can enjoy those rights. And this freedom encompasses any place in the “world” they are born. The Right to NOT Kill and the Right of Access to the World We Are Born on in Pursuit of Basic Needs should be added to the whatever next declaration the world powers will be signing.
