“No matter how convincing someone may appear if they don't want borders and nations they are for destruction & one world government.” Why did I put a “like” on this tweet of SaxonShieldWall? I am someone who does not want borders and nations. And he claims I am for destruction! Surely, I do not accept such an accusation. So, why did I put the like? I put it because of the first part of the sentence: “No matter how convincing someone may appear...” That's a very crucial part of the matter. It confesses that it does not matter how convincing, how logical your arguments are... he is not going to accept your point. This is the crux of the “hatred” or to put it lightly “opposition” to refugees and migrants. It touches something that is deep inside these people. It's our primordial being, it's our fear, it's our animal side... I don't know how you would call it, but it is not something that can be changed easily, if at all. Because, as SaxonShieldWall's tweet shows, you have no chance with logical, convincing arguments. No matter how many good points you have. So what is left to do? I guess the only thing is to accept such people the way they are. I understand them, even though I do not agree with them. They have total right to claim they don't “feel” safe, they “feel” it's wrong to have foreigners invading their country. People have a right to their feelings. They have a right to their opinions too. After all, it is anybody's guess what would happen if borders were really opened one day. I, personally, am not claiming that there will not be any destruction anywhere. I am just claiming that it is terribly wrong and unjust to block a person from going and living anywhere on the planet s/he was born, that's all. That's where my claim begins and ends. Ah, and of course I claim it is illogical too, spending billions upon billions on walls, fences, police, security, immigration officers to block and survey people while making those people to spend billions upon billions to overcome the obstacles put in their way. These two things, I have no doubt of their “truth”, or being a fact. That's it. As for being for one world government...

“You are Jewish, aren't you?”
That question got me laughing so hard! Obviously, this guy, SaxonShieldWall, had some preconceived notions about people who were for open borders. I didn't know at the time, I had heard of the New World Order. But to me, that was supposed to be something good. After all, this world order was obviously panning out so awfully; it needed to be changed. To me, it meant a positive political change. Then I read. And I realized NWO was also a conspiracy theory, the emergence of a totalitarian one world government. I understood people's fear and I undestood how SaxonShieldWall was brainwashed and could not think of open borders from the perspective of injustice. “No matter how convincing someone may appear if they don't want borders and nations they are for destruction & one world government.” I discussed the no matter how convincing and destruction part of SaxonShieldWall's tweet. He also claims that anyone who does not want borders and nations is for one world government. I guess that's obviously not something good in his eyes, but I do not take that as an accusation. It's just a crooked logic which is FALSE. If one does not want borders and nations, it does NOT follow s/he is for one world government. I am sorry but it simply does not! There is no correlation between the two. SaxonShieldWall would get a big X, -X as in wrong,- on his paper if he wrote this in a logic class. There is no such rule. I am an example. Even if there was such a rule, I would be an example who breaks the rule. I am not in favor of one world government. On the contrary, I believe the smaller the governing body is, the better it is. I have stated this in several posts. Mainly on Strike at the Root and On Brexit. But true, I do not believe in borders as barriers of movement and I do not believe in nations either. We picked olives with my daughter yesterday. Or rather, she played and mamma did the work. So tonight it was time to clean them. Separate those that were bad from the good ones. How do you go about doing that? I had given the job to my husband as I was busy with cooking. When I went to have a look how it was going, I saw that he was picking up the good ones one by one and putting them aside. I said, “Why are you doing that? Just go through with your hands and pick the bad ones to toss away.” “Did you have any doubts that we'd do it the opposite way?” said Carlo. It wasn't a question.: as we tend to somehow do things in just opposite ways in almost everything. If I like something one way, he likes it the other way. If I put something perpendicular, he puts it horizontal. No wrong or right, just opposite. Luckily, we are on the same frequency in general, our tastes that require sharing time together are common, we agree on the basics of life in the household, we hold the same moral principles. With my remark on his olive separating, Carlo made an interesting observation from my interaction with people and the world in general: I tend to find fault with the things people do. He said: “You look for the bad, I look for the good.” He had a point. I laughed at myself and said “You are right.” But he was missing another point: “I am looking for the good people too, it's just that they're a rarity,” I said. “Most people are bad, or let's say miss the basics that I expect of a decent human being, so it's difficult to come across and pick out the good ones. Whereas most of our olives are good. So you need to go looking for the bad ones to put them aside, it's easier.” It's true, I am looking for the good people too; but maybe I am not looking for the good in them. All of us have good sides; I'm sure even the most brutal ones -which luckily I have not come across,- must have at least one small good thing about them. Trouble is, I see a bad side and I don't want to live with that bad side which I now know I won't be able to accept how hard I try. I believe what I look for is not much: honesty -including being true to one's word, basic decency like responding to questions and requests, a little bit of thought and respect. When it comes to work, I expect people to do their job with due diligence. But whoever I work with, I feel they are so incapable. I know these things will be disturbing me again and again in my interaction if I keep the relation going. So it's best to avoid those conflicts and annoyances. Everybody goes their way. There is someone for everybody in this world. It's just a matter of finding the right people.
PS: I love the above artwork, I truly love it. My inner child wants to connect with the people I have fallen out with. However, it is true, I make attempts, and every time I get hurt again. So I'm not sure it's worth trying to connect. We don't need to connect, it's unreasonable to expect everyone to connect with everyone. Just hang on to those that deserve your devotion and loyalty. Recently, a "friend" of mine posted a video on FB showing bombings in Syria with a "This is happening now on our planet. WAKE UP!"
I said "Wake up and do what? Unfortunately, posting videos like this on FB, liking or even sharing them doesn't help anybody." She wrote back saying "I DO my part and I am proud of myself." What does she do? She volunteers at an organization helping refugee kids at a camp in Turkey. She translates their website. This is not to detract from any good anybody does. But the remark clearly shows she is satisfied with herself. As for me, I wouldn't be satisfied until I see a permanent change in the situation, until the war has stopped. That's why the starfish story comes into the picture. But these are long-term goals, they do not give instant rewards and satisfaction. Whereas doing something simple, -while certainly being better than doing nothing, of course,- leads to our thinking we have done our part and consoles us. Lets our conscience rest in peace when it actually should not be resting in peace until there is peace in the world. Shoshana Fine, in her article “Tolerance and Humanitarianism Will Not Solve Europe’s ‘Migration Crisis’” published in The Wire and the The Conversation says: “We need to start thinking about migrants in terms of their rights rather than our generosity. We need think in terms of respect rather than tolerance.” I think this is a very very important point. Whenever I write on this topic, I make it a point to stress the injustice of borders, the injustice at birth, and it being a right of everyone to move around freely on the world they are born. My posts never get shared. Perhaps, people are not ready to hear this yet. Or perhaps, they do not want to acknowledge it. Or perhaps, as even the ones who say they believe everybody should be able to go wherever they wish on the planet do not speak up or share any post related to the topic, it's simply something related to our ego. Thinking in terms of our generosity is rewarding for the ego. If it is somebody's right, then how are we going to feel good about ourselves for giving somebody something? How are we going to pat ourselves on the shoulder and feel proud? That's what's wrong with #RefugeesWelcome as well. People do not recognize it's everybody's right to go and live anywhere they wish, that this planet belongs to all of us and nobody has a right to block some parts of it to others just because they were born on another part. They are self-righteous, that land belongs to them, and they are generously opening up their land to refugees. To those selected ones who prove that they deserve our compassion. Of course I'm not talking about those opening up their own houses to refugees. I believe they have a right to feel their ego's boosted. Just not the one's welcoming refugees into “their” country. After all, even though it may not be recognized as a basic human right in the political world of today, It IS everybody's right to go and live anywhere they wish on the planet they are born. #FreeToRoamTheWorldWeAreBornIn “What's natural about bringing people here from thousands of miles away and brainwashing everyone into thinking its normal?” SaxonShieldWall asked.
“What bringing people? Nobody is bringing anybody. What's unnatural about one who is bombed or simply unsatisfied with life moving around to find a better life? What's natural about drawing imaginary lines grouping people who DID NOT CHOOSE to be together and putting guns & walls at those lines? Of course there is no answer to that question. So SSW did what people who feel trapped in a corner do. “This is too stupid. You will lose. The end,” he said. “What's too stupid, what will I lose?” I asked. “I believe you've already lost as you put an End because you couldn't answer my questions.” It's about an Injustice... #InjusticeAtBirth
I know I keep repeating the same thing here over and over again. But I'll be repeating it until people pick it up and start passing on the idea. Isn't there anybody apart from Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump to run for president of the US?
Apparently, there isn't. Private enterprise decide on the nominee and people are left with only two choices. It's so so obvious that this choice is not a choice. It's a game. It's fake. And this is called democracy? Supposedly the best form of government? We definitely need a new form of "country" and a new form of government. I've never liked the starfish story. You know the one where a man throws the starfish washed up on the shore and says “It made a difference for that one.” Of course I try to save whatever starfish I can too. But that's not enough for me. Okay, it makes a difference for the one you save, but what about the thousands that are hitting the shore as you toss that one away? If hundreds of them wash up the shore while you are throwing one back into the water, I'm not sure trying to save them, to make a difference for one is the smart thing to do. At least, it's not the answer. We are many here on land and safe. As some are trying to throw the starfish back into the sea (which is an unlucky metaphor- as people are trying to save migrants from the sea these days), others should be going after a more permanent and long-term solution. The logical thing to do is to stop the tide that is causing the starfishes to wash ashore and die. It's fine that people help those starfishes, but we should strike at the root. And that entails recognizing everybody's right to free movement on the world they were born. #Free2RoamTheWorldWeAreBornIn PS: Many concepts, many stories get into our lives, we talk about them, but we never really know the origins and/or the real meaning. As I like to research things when I write, I wanted to know what this Starfish Story is... It is a 16-page essay by Loren Eiseley published in 1969 in The Unexpected Universe. The original name is “The Star Thrower”. It has been adapted and retold by many people, especially motivational speakers. “It made a difference for that one,” is not in the original story. James Cook is the one who came up with that sentence. I read both of them. The Cook version is simpler and easier to read. But Eiseley has written the heart of the story: "I do not collect," I said uncomfortably, the wind beating at my garments. "Neither the living nor the dead. I gave it up a long time ago. Death is the only successful collector." KentBuse tweeted “We need greater moral outrage to provoke the needed measures for migrants and refugees.”
I totally agree we need greater outrage. The question is... How do you get people who are busy with their own lives to be outraged? The only ones who are outraged are outraged against migrants. The other ones, who sympathize with migrants, do just that generally. I mean emotion-wise. They just feel sympathy, empathy, and perhaps pity. They may help refugees, they may make donations. The emotion they feel after that is PRIDE for themselves. They feel good that they have done their share and it is so satisfactory. They are not outraged at the injustice of it all. They are not even outraged that people are dying. I do not blame them for the second part. Our hearts cannot bleed so much for so many people we do not know personally. That is a fact. Otherwise, life would be unbearable and we would need to commit suicide. But the first part... Not being outraged at the injustice at birth is unacceptable. Not doing anything to change that, accepting injustice as the status quo IS UNACCEPTABLE. Angelina Jolie is a Special Envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. In her speech “Refugee system breaking down” she says:
“It is important to maintain the distinction between refugees and economic migrants. An economic migrant chooses to move in order to improve their lives or livelihoods. Refugees, have to move if they are to save their lives and preserve their freedoms. However difficult the situation economic migrants are seeking to escape, however understandable their motivation... there is no blanket human right to resettle in another country.” Why not? That is the question! |
